Kreateevee’s Multi-touch Table, a Cutting-Edge Product that Will Revolutionise Asia’s Retail Experience PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 30 July 2009 15:33

MSC Malaysia Status company Kreateevee Sdn Bhd today launched its latest product offering, an interactive multi-touch table.

Being the first of its kind in Malaysia, the multi-touch table is a form of interactive kiosk where it allows multiple people to interact simultaneously with their fingers / hands at the same time. This differs from traditional computer kiosk where only one person can use the kiosk at a time leaving a queue of customers behind.

This product can be adapted to the needs of different industries from entertainment to service industries since applications can be custom-built such as football games to music album browsing.

In addition, this product not only can be used in the retail environment, but the table can be adapted to be concealed in a wall or used in road-shows, showrooms and events. The touch surface is also covered with tempered glass to ensure durability.

The product was developed by Kreateevee that recently won the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific 2008, a ranking of the 500 fastest growing technology companies in Asia Pacific. Among the twelve Malaysian companies being selected, Kreateevee was ranked fourth and was the only company from the Digital Signage and Interactive Media field.

Kreateevee’s Executive Chairman, Frankie Chen credits the successful new product launch to the company’s mindset of constantly striving to create relevant products that not only attracts attention but assists its clients in achieving their retail return on investment (ROI).

Chen said movies such as Tom Cruise’s Minority Report have long fascinated its audience with its cutting-edge multiple gesture interactivity and with us being in the kiosk business, our clients have always been hinting on their interest in such interactive applications.

“Listening to what the market wants, we immediately embarked on months of in-house research and development (R&D) development. As an advantage of being a locally made product, customers around the region can expect prompt support, customized applications created according to their needs and best of all, at an affordable Asian pricing” Chen said.

Fielding a question on deployments and potential clients, Chen said Kreateevee is already in the midst of trialing its new product with a couple of major companies from different industries but due to commercial non-disclosure agreements, Kreateevee is unable to reveal the clientele at this moment. “However, we are encouraged by the huge response that we are getting from these multinational companies despite the current economic situation” said Chen.

Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC)’s Chief Executive Officer Badlisham Ghazali said that the country is proud to have a Malaysian company being at the forefront of technology by having a truly made in Malaysia product that can be marketed internationally but more importantly, a product that could also potentially showcase the works of our local creative industry.

“Having said this, not only have this company weathered the current economic slowdown but they have continued to expand and improve themselves. We hope this company can serve as a role model to other local multimedia companies” Badlisham added.

It has bloomed to become one of fastest growing tech companies in Asia Pacific

EDWARD Anthony describes himself as an accidental entrepreneur.

The 29-year-old never thought of owning a company but as it turned out, he is currently chief executive officer and partner of Kreateevee Sdn Bhd, a digital signage company.

Anthony had studied information technology (IT) in Boston, US and joined the corporate world upon graduation.

The turning point in his life came five years ago when he was offered a partnership in a company together with a group of friends.

He accepted the offer without thinking twice.

Edward Anthony says the most difficult part when his team started out was trying to convince people that the company's concepts and products worked.

“Initially, we wanted to start an advertising company but we realised that the competition is very stiff especially when there are so many big boys out there,” he told StarBiz in an interview.

After a brainstorming session, the partners came up with the idea of setting up a specialist digital signage company.

“With the various changes in the advertising industry and the advancement in multimedia content, digital signages have also become more popular, so we decided to venture into this field,” he said.
